Concept
The new Health Center of Zagreb County – Samobor Branch is conceived as a contemporary healthcare facility that combines functionality, accessibility, and a humane architectural approach. Located in Samobor, the project redefines the typology of primary healthcare buildings by creating an environment that supports both medical efficiency and patient well-being.
The concept emphasizes clarity, comfort, and openness—moving away from institutional models toward a more welcoming and patient-oriented spatial experience.
Purpose
The facility accommodates a range of primary healthcare services, including general practice, specialist clinics, diagnostic functions, and supporting medical infrastructure.
The program is organized to ensure clear separation between different user groups while maintaining efficient internal connections for staff. Public areas, waiting zones, and medical spaces are carefully distributed to optimize both functionality and user experience.

Spatial Strategy
The spatial organization is based on intuitive circulation and clarity of movement. Patients are guided through the building via clearly defined paths, minimizing stress and confusion.
Waiting areas are designed as comfortable, naturally lit spaces that contribute to a calmer healthcare experience. Visual connections to the exterior and the use of daylight play a key role in shaping a more humane environment.
Architecture and Materials
The architectural expression is contemporary and restrained, using a combination of durable materials and soft visual elements appropriate for a healthcare setting.
Material choices prioritize hygiene, longevity, and ease of maintenance, while colour and texture are used to create a warm and approachable atmosphere. The building’s form and facade articulate a clear and recognizable public identity within the urban fabric of Samobor.

Public Character
As a public healthcare institution, the building is designed to be open, accessible, and inclusive. The entrance areas and external spaces reinforce its civic role, creating a welcoming interface between the facility and the community.
Vision
The project establishes a new standard for healthcare architecture in the region, demonstrating how thoughtful design can improve both operational efficiency and patient experience. By integrating functionality with spatial quality, the Health Center contributes to a more contemporary and human-centered model of public healthcare.
